South Korea’s military has decided to launch mass production of M-SAM missile interceptor system in the face of their aggresive neighbours missile threats.
The mass production of the missile was approved on 17 November during a meeting on South Korea's Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA).
According to South Korea’s defense committee, the purpose of M-SAM development is to “secure a medium-range and medium-sized interceptor system, in response to North Korea ballistic missile and aircraft attacks.”
The M-SAM which is also known as Cheolmae II is an advanced multi-function surface-to-air-missile interceptor developed for the Republic of Korea Army.
The M-SAM can intercept Ballistic missile mid-flight at about 20km above the ground.
