In defiance of US Sanctions and President Donald Trump threat of military action, Venezuelan troops on Saturday trained and drilled civilians how to shoot rifles, fire missiles and hand-to-hand combat training.
In the exercise which took two days, civilians were drilled in the use of rifles including sniper guns and bazookas.
Venezuela was warned by Donald Trump earlier this month over his military conduct. According to him, "United States was mulling a range of options against Venezuela, including military action if need be.
However, Maduro, Venezuelan leader accused Washington of planning to topple him with their eyes on Venezuelan Oil reserve which is the largest reserve in the world.
Despite challenges faced by Venezuela like food shortage and lack of adequate basic amenities, Maduro who came in 2013 to succeed late Hugo Chavez has hung on to power, thanks to the military which he have a firm grip over.
Tension is gradually surging after white house on friday unveiled its first-ever sanctions to target venezuela as whole rather than just Manduro and his carcus.
Manduro is considering options and meeting with US companies Venezuela trade with before responding to the sanctions.
