I was disgusted and furious at the statement made by Nigeria's Minister for Sport, Solomon Dalung, that he was not aware of the Flying Eagles tour to the United States of America as part of their preparation for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Samson Siasia's Men who departed last week have been facing serious cash constrain in the States and may even be thrown out of their hotel in Atlanta Georgia, due to their inability to settle their bills. According to Dalung when asked about the issue, his response was something not expected from a Minister. He blatantly said, '' Infact I am hearing it from you [the media] for the first time''. For someone who is saddled with the Management and development of not just soccer but the whole Sport sector to make this statement,it only shows us one thing; 'HE IS INCOMPETENT'.
In support of his action, he further said ''They (Nigeria U23) didn't tell us what they were there for and who took them there. It doesn't mean that if somebody goes to the market and has problem then you will come back and ask the Ministry'' and I was left wandering the correlation between the issue and that statement.
So this brings up this important question, 'Is Solomon Dalung the right man to lead the Ministry of Sport?'
