Russia Test New PRS-1M Interceptor Missile

A new missile interceptor, PRS-1M interceptor missile of the A-135 anti-ballistic missile system has been successfully tested by the Russian Aerospace Force (VKS) at the Sary-Shagan training ground (Republic of Kazakhstan) the Russian Defense Ministry said in a report.

The missile during its test followed its flight plan before successfully hitting a mock target according to an officials of the Russian air force.

According to Sputnik, the new missile has a range of 350 kilometers with an altitude well over 400 kilometres and will be able to deliver nuclear warheads.

The missile can be deployed either inside a reinforced missile silo or from road-mobile launcher vehicle developed by KB motor jointly with OJSC Avangard.

The new anti-ballistic missile interceptor has a more powerful engine, a new hull with a composite material heat sheild and an upgraded guidance system.
