North Korea on Wednesday tested its most powerful and capable missile which puts Washington DC in Range.
The new ballistic missile which was revealed as Hwasong-15 by North Korean state television was fired from Pyongsong, South Pyongan, to the east and flew for 50 minutes before splashing in the sea off Japan.
The missile was fired on a very high trajectory reaching 4,500km above the earth 1,000km from launch site. According to David Wright, a physicst and missile expert at the union of concerned scientists, "if the missile was fired on a normal tragetory, the missile would have a range of 13,000km" enough to reach the whole of United States.
In response to the North Korea ballistic missile test, South Korean Military conducted its own missile test just minutes after North Korea launch. The South Korean missile matched the flight distance of the North Korean missile(though didn't match it in altitude) before landing in the Waters off the east coast of South Korea.
The United States, Japan and South Korea immediately after the test called for an emergency at the UN security council to discuss the North Korean ballistic missile test and possible reactions.
Pyongyang continues to conduct missile and nuclear tests in violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions, saying that it will continue to build up its nuclear arsenal "As long as the US and its puppets engage in hostile acts and invasive attempts against us," according to the official
