Nigeria acting President, President Yemi Osinbajo has commissioned five new Super Mushak trainer aircraft recently acquired from Pakistan by the Nigerian Air Force for the training of the air force personnel and for counter insurgency operations.
The aircraft was commissioned on Wednesday at the graduation of 16 pilots which was held at the Airforce base in Kaduna.
This acting President who was represented by the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali said the aircraft is a boost for Nigeria in her fight against terrorism and Militancy which Nigeria has been battling with for a while now.
The Super Mushak aircraft is majorly a training aircraft, due to upgrades on the aircraft by its manufacturer, it now feature a new glass cockpit and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities by fitting the aircraft with electro-optic/infrared sensor turrets and an L3 Wescam MX-10 surveillance device.
The aircraft which has a service ceiling of 22,000 feet, and a maximum speed of 268km/h, and was delivered to Nigeria from Pakistan on July 14, 2017, and has passed through series of test to ensure that their performance meets the desired specifications.
Five more Super Mushak aircraft is being expected by the Nigeria Air Force before the end of the year.
