China joined the exclusive league of countries with "Missile Interceptors" after it developed an 'Ultrafast' missile interceptor, a defence weapons system only possessed by US and Russia.
The system was developed by China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC). The 'Ultrafast' missile interceptor according to report from China Daily newspaper can travel 10 times faster than a bullet and intercept objects flying at an altitude of 'tens of kilometers'.
This is coming two days after US tested its own missile interceptor system. The US fired the missile interceptor from Vandenberg Airforce Base in California and it successfully destroyed the mock ICBM it fired from Reagan test site on Kwajalein atoll in the pacific which the interceptor was to shoot down.
Analyst have predicted that this arms development competition could spark off an heated arm race between the US, Russia, China and other countries with advance weapon development capabilities.
