AK-47
The AK47 is undoubtedly the most popular gun in the world. One out of every five gun in the world is a Kalashnikov. The figure is even higher in Nigeria as 3 out of every 5 guns in is a Kalashnikov. The AK-47 and its variants (including OBJ006 which was locally manufactured in Nigeria) is widely used by the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Police and various Paramilitary agencies.
It is an assault rifle developed in the Soviet Union by Mikhail Kalashnikov and has remained in active service even after seven decades since its introduction. It is a selective-fire gas operated 7.62 x 39mm assault rifle with a muzzle velocity of 715m/s (2,350FHS). it can spit out 600 rounds/min at combat rate of fire and 400 rounds/min at Semi-automatic. It has an effective firing range of 350m(380 yards).
Come rain come sun this "stamina freak" keeps spitting lead, very cheap and also very easy to maintain (This rifle should have been phrase out by the Nigerian Army to higher variants or something better outside the Kalashnikov family).

This battle rifle has west Germany as its origin and was introduced in 1958. The G3 is a 7.62 x 51mm NATO battle rifle developed in collaboration with the Spanish state owned design and development agency C.E.T.M.E. instead of the AK-47 some Nigeria Soldiers carry the G3. Also some paramilitary agencies like the Custom and the Civil Defence (NSCDC) has the G3 as their primary rifle.
It can fire 500-600 rounds/mins and it has a velocity muzzle of 800m/s (2,685ft/s). It has an effective range of 500 metres (550 yard).
I have heard and seen people that survived multiple shot from an AK47 even at close range but what I have never seen or heard of is someone that survived a point blank shot from the 'wicked boy' Heckler and Koch G3.

Pump Action Rifle
This is widely used by security agencies and civilians alike. Pump action rifle are widely used in Nigeria by hunters, vigilantes, home securities... There are many models of pump action in Nigeria but the most popular of them all are; Winchester Model 1912 12 gauge, Mossberg 500, Itacha 37, Norinco YL 12.... Pump action rifles are also produced locally in Nigeria by Specialized Blacksmith.

TAR-21
This is a bullpop assault rifle developed by Is real Weapon Industries (IWI). It is the primary rifle of the State Security Services and some specialized department of the Nigerian army, the Navy and Air force.
The TAR-21 (Tavor) can use either 5.56 x 45mm NATO, 9 x 19mm parabelum, 5.56 x 30mm Minas or 5.45. X 39mm.
It can spit 750-950RPM with a muzzle velocity of 910m/s and it has an effective firing range of 550m. It has three main variants which are TAR-21, the CTAR-21 and the MTAR-21.
( Don't be deceived that this stubborn boy is wield by authorized agencies only...I had an encounter with some Tavor carrying Fulani Herdsmen in 2009 during the Jos Crisis)
