BATTLE FOR MOSUL: International coalition defence ministers to meet.



    There will be a meeting between the defence ministers from the the international coalition fighting the Islamic State group in Mosul and elsewhere in Iraq and Syria. US defence secretary Ashton Carter will be among 13 ministers who will assess progress in the battle to drive IS jihadist from from Iraq's second-biggest city, which Iraqi forces launched on Monday.
              
           The aim of the meeting will also take a look at the ways to deter the IS forces in Raqqa to reinforce those in Mosul as offensive intensifies. The meeting will include only the western nations providing the air support which include: United States, France, Britain, Canada, Australia, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Norway, Denmark, and New Zealand.

                The anti-IS coalition is made up of 65 Nations, with each providing Support ranging from air strikes, Land Force operations, and logistical support. In Iraq, the Coalition Comprises approximately 8,500 troops. most of them (about 4,900) are American, but other  nations including Italy, Britain and France are helping to train local Iraqi forces.
               
       As of October 11, the coalition had conducted 10,129 air strikes in Iraq, and another 5,505 in Syria.
